Trip to Finland became ripe already for long time. The more you study history of coastal artillery; would be more desirable to visit on the Finnish coast. On all the East Baltic on coast did not remain any gun, only concrete on cannon court yard, yes black bolts make the way through grass. In Finland guns of all times and epoch were kept.

At the end of summer 1915 the Riga railway station Aleksander Gate has been hammered by structures, people and equipment. Steam elevating cranes transferred on platforms machine tools, machines and factory equipment. Separately loaded heavy circles of metal and cakes of red copper - the mobilization stock of materials. Strict military sentry accepted an echelon, soldiers in long overcoats, with three-linear rifles, borrowed places on platforms and on carload platforms.

Go on Saaremaa it would be desirable for long time. All the same, our family lived on island three years in 1956-58, there I went to school, in the first class. More than 40 years I haven't been in Saaremaa, but memoirs have remained forever. During Soviet time it was difficult to get on island. The strict frontier regime closed Saaremaa for tourists.

In each letter which comes to me from readers and visitors of a site, the pain about preservation of monuments of military history sounds. Ancient forts collapse and are taken away. And how abroad? Experience of Finland is well-known, and how affairs in the Great Britain are? How there keep military - historical heritage?

We have left port Dirhami in the morning. On the eve with alarm looked at the sky pending good weather. The wind rushes reached up to 12m/sec. 10 kilometres passage between island and continent was covered with 2-meter waves, but the boat has overcome that distance for 30 minutes.There is the convenient bay in a southern part of island; there was a wooden pier earlier, but it has been broken by storms.
